I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years experience, having worked in a wide variety of child and family settings within community and specialist NHS teams and schools, predominantly with children, parents and younger adults.

The breadth of experiences gained across different teams/services organisations has highlighted the huge variability across presentations and the importance of maintaining a focus on the individual alongside their understanding of their own unique situation.

This approach has proved invaluable when working with clients who have neurodevelopmental conditions or neurodiversity (diagnosed or otherwise). Working also with individuals with learning disabilities has further reinforced the benefit of considering each person’s own multi-faceted profile and adapting therapy where and whenever relevant to suit the individual’s needs. Using their strengths to help navigate and accommodate for “one size” that quite often does not fit all!

I have gone on to gain more specialist qualifications in parenting and further training in other therapeutic modalities Amongst which I am EMDR trained to work with children (as well as with adults), integrating other evidence-based modalities where needed and of most help. Having worked with a full range of presentations and mental health difficulties, I am able to adopt the best approach to help ameliorate distress caused by trauma, anxieties or any adverse life event that presents itself in such a a way as to impact negatively on mental health and well-being.

Sharing an understanding together of what has happened which has led people to seek support and what might help – we can discuss along the way when obstacles present themselves, and when modifications might be needed and why. By using individual hopes and goals for therapy, it will also be possible to recognise how and when things become more manageable, drawing on existing strengths and identifying new ones, and finding more helpful ways to go forward.
