My name is Nina, I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Therapist. I have worked clinically in the NHS since 2019, making mental health assessments and delivering one-to-one therapy sessions or group therapy sessions to young people and parents for anxiety, low-mood and behavioural difficulties.
My approach is person-centred/humanistic and holistic; being kind and non-judgmental are key for me in exploring problems with clients and I have comprehensive experience of working with diverse populations. I incorporate Mindfulness and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) techniques if appropriate, and an expertise of mine is working with neurodivergent children and young people having had extensive experience and education working with children in education settings previous to my CBT work.
CBT involves understanding how our thoughts, behaviours and feelings play out in our difficulties, and helps us to consider how to make changes. I have worked with teens, children and parents on general anxiety and specific anxiety disorders including OCD, trauma, social anxiety, panic disorder, emetophobia, trichotillomania, and depression, low motivation, self-esteem, body and eating concerns and parenting.
The first session usually helps us to briefly understand the problem and how CBT (and some adaptations) might help. Subsequent sessions involve more learning around the problem and identifying goals for change and how to make the changes. The problem is monitored regularly to see the difference and to help us evaluate what is working.
