About Me
I came to psychology after a career in media, driven by a desire to work more closely with people and help them navigate life’s difficulties. I see mental health challenges as something that can be changed and worked through with the right psychological support. As a Counselling Psychologist, I’ve also experienced therapy myself – and I value it enormously for the insight, growth, and perspective it offered me.
Who I Support
I work with both adults and young people (14+). I work with and focus on all mental health presentations, including but not exclusive to anxiety, stress, low-mood, Post Traumatic Stress, and many types of trauma including adult and developmental.
How I Work
I believe therapy should be tailored to meet the needs that are important to you — because no two people are the same. I use a range of evidence-based methods including:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Narrative Therapy
- Person-Centred Therapy
- Trauma-focused approaches, including EMDR
My role is to support you in making informed choices about your therapy and to help you work towards your goals in a way that feels right for you. I also place strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship — it’s a vital foundation for any meaningful progress in therapy.
Professional Background and Qualifications
My experience spans NHS primary and secondary care services (working with both adults and children), Ministry of Defence, and the community voluntary sector.
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Counselling Psychology
- BSc (Hons) Psychology
- Specialist training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CBT for Psychosis, Trauma-Focused therapies including EMDR
- Ongoing commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice
Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of my clinical work, I continue to explore the intersection between mental health and the world we live in – including media, culture, and the stories we tell about ourselves. I still work as a musician in my spare time and have an active family life as a Father in a blended family.
Ready to Get Started?
If you’re considering therapy, I’d be glad to speak with you about how we might work together. Taking the first step can be daunting, but you shouldn’t feel alone. Feel free to get in touch for an initial conversation – no pressure, just a chance to see if it’s the right fit for you.
