About Me
I am a Clinical Psychologist with 15 years’ experience working in the NHS. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults and am currently a senior psychologist in a national specialist adolescent mental health team at the Maudsley Hospital.
Who I support
– Adults and adolescents (aged 12+)
– I work with a broad range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, stress, low self-esteem and unusual experiences (hearing voices, seeing visions or having paranoid thoughts).
– I have experience adapting therapy for adolescents and adults with neurodiversity, including autism and ADHD.
– I have worked extensively with young people who identify as LGBTQ+
How I work
I work in an integrative way incorporating different psychological theories, led by a shared understanding of your current difficulties and the different factors that have brought you to therapy. I often draw from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) techniques. DBT is a therapy that focuses on supporting emotion regulation, learning to manage distressing emotions and improving interpersonal relationships. DBT can lead to significant emotion and behaviour changes through a combination of exploratory conversations and specific skills training. From early on in my training as a psychologist I have been drawn to the ideas of positive psychology and recognising that for true mental wellbeing we must recognise and enhance the positive aspects of our lives, however small they initially seem, alongside managing and reduce the negatives. I aim to collaboratively set goals for our work together and to create a warm and safe therapeutic space to make sense of your life experiences.
